PREFACE
In this edition, the work has been revised and considerably enlarged. A preliminary chapter has been reader of the blessings added, which will remind the and mysterious potency of prayers. After the life-sketch of the Prophet by the late Marmaduke Pickthall, a number of chapters have been introduced which contain the views of eminent Christian writers, on the personality, genius, character, integrity, mission and career of the Prophet.
These newly introduced chapters also explain how the teachings of Islam, ‘which are perfectly in keeping with reason and sound common sense, were willfully distorted in the West, and how the. Islamic faith was painted black, with a view to prejudicing the Christian world against it , and how various kinds of fantastically false and fictitious portraits of the Prophet, describing him as an impostor, were displayed in the writings of certain Unscrupulous missionaries of the Middle Ages, who had realised that it was beyond their power to impede the rapid spread of Islam, through convincing reasoning arid honest preaching.
A new chapter has been added at the end of the book which gives an epitome of the teachings of Islam.
The work is read and appreciated by Muslims and non-Muslims alike, since it helps strengthen the faith of its readers in God and His mercy, inspires hope into them, makes them self-confident and brings them con- solation and solace in their afflictions. It does not criticise other faiths.
